@blitz: But there's the thing, you couldn't do that. It takes so much hard work to make a site as big as this one is and the chances that you could pull something like that off are slim.

And about Shawn not accepting the offers, I can agree and disagree with him at the same time. Money isn't everything Blitz, and do you have anything to back up your statement about:
I would like to hear your reasoning for that, please.

Okay, what value would you place on it?

    Huh?
I didn't say anything about the person who made the site, I gave a judgement on the legitimacy of the offer. I wouldn't doubt the abilities of someone I don't know - which is exactly what you've done about me.

Since you think this guy put in so much 'hard work' to make his website over 8 months, I suggest you open your eyes to what 'hard work' actually is. Stitching footballs for 12 hours a day or fighting a war in a trench for 5 years is 'hard work', except it has very little reward or personal gain. He's done something which is difficult, but not particularly hard in relativity to the aforementioned situations. (Aren't I just the dick?)

    "Money isn't everything Blitz"
Trust me, I know this very well. But if you read what I wrote in my post, it's still valid. If he took the $16 million, he could build a much better website for the same users - and effectively give back to the community which made him rich. If that concept would make me selfish or a sellout, then so be it.

Do I have a reason for believing his site isn't worth $16 million? Other than what I think it's worth, no.

that is huge money, but still the growth of this forum is enormous, i wont sell it if i were admin , simple reason being the money you get out of the deal , where to invest it ?
nothing will give faster returns then this website does :)

Wickedfire's Bullshit. Following are the reasons:

    (1) Link Bait
    (2) Curious Traffic
    (3) More signups of casual visitors just coming to say "THIS IS CRAP"
    (4) Media coverage
    (5) More PR
    (6) Better SERP Rankings

and all other webmaster reasons. And if this is bloody not about the above reasons why couldn't you have started the topic in some members-only forum Jon? EH?

Seriously, lying is GROSS man you better not do it. HUGE Businesses go for less than $16M, Wickedfire is just spitting some Bullshit and I don't think anyone should believe it.

Jon... dude don't you think you could have had put up a more REALISTIC figure? 16 Million man.... come on.

I don't believe that Wickedfire was valued at that price. That's a complete crap! With that number of members, It would not even be sold at $1M.

The Digitalpoint forums are not a business. Shawn makes $10k a month of the forums. This is nice money to buy new equipment, experiement with pcc, etc... His main gig is Digitalpoint solutions - this forum was setup in order to help users of optigoldisp get support.

If I owned wickedfire and was offered $16 million I would sell right away. I run several sites I am attached too, but none that I wouldn't sell for the right price. Everyone has their price. Also, a value is not an actual price someone is willing to pay.

BTW, wickedfire forums are not worth more then $160k. Whoever came up with 16m was smokin crack.

Maybe $16 mil is too much but never the less, talks about websites making millions is sure firing some motivation to get your sites successful. Wow, shawn is making 10gs per month? Not bad.

I think someone accidentally added 3 zeros. 16,000 maybe, but not 16,000,000.
