How much is a pagerank 4 worth?

Hi everyone, two months ago I placed my website online and tried everything to get linked and get visitors. I finally got a PR4 today, I'm really glad, hehe :)

How much is a website with PR4 worth? I checked google today and I searched on my website name, but I could not find myself in the first 5 pages. Does this PR boost doesn't give me a higher ranking?

    My website is www.mail-maniac.com

I'm not about to sell my website or anything but I don't really see any changes in higher ranking or anything.

    Oh and something else: As I said I've done lots and lots of things to get listed higher and higher, like;

    - valid html (css+div)
    - keyword density
    - link+backlinking
    - trafficswarm
    - report my website to search engine
    - dmoz.org suggestion

what can I do more that will make a difference? Thanks in advance!

    grz Casper

I'm not sure if PR has anything to do with the sandbox. I've had a PR5 site stay in the sand box for months before finally ranking well. You may still be in this situation but ask around for someone with more experience. Good luck.

    hey Casper

PR isn't related to your actual position in the search engines unfortunately. My site has been PR4 for about 7 months but still has the most competitive keywords in the sandbox.

The PR you just got was an external update, you have probably had that PR for weeks. PR seems to have a smaller role in actual ranking these days.

A PR4 by itself is worth very little. I've seen sites sell for $25 and up. I personally wouldn't pay anything for a PR4 site unless it had a good domain name or was established in a sector I was interested in. The real value comes from how much revenue your site generates. It can be worth anywhere from 8 to 18 months NET income. The work a person has put into a site means very little if it isn't generating income or at least substaintial traffic. A PR0 site that is generating $500 a month in income is obviously worth more than a PR5 site making $5 a month.

PR and the sandbox have nothing to do with each other.

Google uses internal PR to determine your ranking. By the time the toolbar updates, it has already been factored into your rankings. PR has little to do with your actual ranking. On page optimization and/or geting quality links from relevant sites will help your traffic much more than a high PR that comes from sites unrelated to your sector.

Thanks for the link! I tried out the positioning tool and some other tools. I'm now rewriting the text on my front page to adjust the keyword density of some high ranked words for my website.

What is sandboxing? Does that mean google drops your site in a try-out environment for the first couple of months to check what kind of site you are?

Casper, the sandbox has about 4 million articles written about it, most could give far better info on it than I could but I can give brief info....Many people dispute the existence of any sandbox and if there is one then debate the how/why/when/which etc. Seems to me that most agree it helps, or at least is aimed to, reduce the spammier sites by keeping them at bay for longer.

I personally believe it certainly does exist. I noticed a very definite trend to how my keywords appeared in Google, with non-competitive search terms appearing in top 10 pretty quick, then after a few months, another stream of KWs appeared etc. My site still has the best phrases completely missing from search results so I just have to wait on them.
