How much do forums make? I know this is a difficult question or a stupid question, but how much could a forum make with about 500 active registered users. This forum topic is: Celebrity News Thanks
I had a celebrity site for awhile. I don't remember exact numbers, but I do remember that both CTR and CPC sucked. My current top forum has a CPM about one-tenth as high as the web site to which it is attached.
I read recently in NYTimes about this forum. I believe they mentioned something like 8 to 10K a month.
500 registered, but how many visits and how often? Anyone can get people to register, but getting them to come back, post, and repeat is another matter. If, say, all 500 posts regularly, you're looking at what, 3000 page views or more? And considering the lowly CTR for forums, I dunno, it's not looking good. Plus, your site theme (celebrity news) is notoriously low paying. I'd say $10/day on a good day?
That's about what I've experienced too. But the forum is 95% return users, so you could consider it more of a long term investment.
Members: 1,678, Active Members: 313 - topic is art and celebrities. It makes just about enough to buy me a soda a day.
LOL! Anyway, to make great money with a celebrity site, you need to have an incredibly popular site i.e get tons of clicks to make it worthwhile or amalgamate affiliate programs on your site.
it depends what you call great though, if you had that much traffic you're better off selling your own ads (that's in any situation though)
Don't go with CPC campaigns, at all. Forums have such a notoriously low CTR. You'll make much more money selling ad spots on your own to individual advertisers. For a forum with 500 active posters, I bet you could bring in any easy $450/month, maybe even more if you know how to sell ads, where to place them, etc.
