How much for ads on my site?

    Hello,

    I have been approached by a company who wish to advertise on my site and they would like to know what options are available.

    Website Info:
    - Currently PR3 but is predicted PR5.
    - 14,500+ uniques/month.
    - 87,500+ impressions/month.

    Would someone be kind enough to tell me how much I should be asking for the following....

    1) Text link, just above the fold, left of frontpage (and every other content page).

    2) Small 100x50 banner, same as above.

    3) Right at the top of the website much like the bar at the top of CSNation.

    Any advice is really appreciated, thank you!

    I would think using an intermediary like Adbrite would be the most effective way to provide a steady advertising solution. You can offer specific elements or the entire site.

    Also, find out if your potential advertiser is using any existing ad networks, and you may be able to simply integrate them.

    Cheers,

    Text links wouldn't get much traffic. So overcharging them like that is a bad idea. They would drop out within a month or two. Banners are a different story. The prices are fine. Neither of you are being ripped off.

    $50? That seems too much...

    $30? That's pretty good.

    I don't quite understand why the header banner would be lower (I know I didn't specificy banner but you can see on the example I gave).

    At the moment I'm going for,

    * Sitewide left text-link = $18/m
    * Sitewide left graphic-link (no more than 115x50) = $24/m

    Thanks for advice and I would appreciate any further feedback.

    Advertisor want to advertise because your site probably have same niche as advertisor site .
    with appx. 15000 visits per month if you give good area of your website for Ads ( assuming ads are highly targated ) advertisor will get 10% hits means 1500 charge 20 cent per click so charge $300 from advertisor

    If your traffic increases significantly, you can always invite them to advertise again but charge a higher rate. Of course you must explain to them why the rates are higher (higher amount of visitors)

    How specialized is your site? The more general your site the lower value of your link. Now, if you have a specific niche site that matches a specific niche for this advertiser then you can ask for a lot more.

    The main thing you have to determine is how much traffic your advertiser will be getting from your site and what those visitors are worth.

    If you are getting 500 visitors per day, a text link is probably only going to send 5 visitors per day or $150 per month. If you charge $15 per month that is 10 cents per visitor. For some keywords that is very cheap but for a general site your advertiser could get a lot cheaper traffic using a PPC campaign.

    The site is a fan site about a tennis player. The advertiser is a tennis tournament operator, they sell tickets etc.

    They will now pay $18/m instead of their original offer of 0.25c which I declined.
