Let's better say that today we have discovered simple maths. If you take the original PR algo (I believe the new one passes even less PR or it passes something else we can't mesure), it says (briefly) that a page passes 80% of it's PR through its links...divided, of course, by the number of links. Then what did you expect, that a PR10 instantly changes a poor PR0 website into a great PR10 website just because it links to it ? I've counted 44 HREF in the source of StatCounter homepage...let's forget it and let's say there is just 16 links, those sponsored links on the left side. So that would be (10 X 0.8) / 16 = 0.5 Each link would pass 0.5 point of PR. Anyway, this maths doesn't mean anything as the new algo is much more sofisticated but honestly, I would love to have my link there.
Why is it always about the se's? Maybe those sites are receiving tons of traffic from being listed on this homepage and that is why they pay to be there. I think there is always so much talk about PR and se's that we forget that websites are created for site visitors, or atleast they should be. It is possible that this site is not passing a lot of pr, but they could be passing a lot of traffic. Just a thought. Can't sites advertise anymore? Why is it always viewed as buying links to increase PR? I personally feel that PR in general gets much more attention than it deserves. I would bet that there are lots of PR3 sites out there that receive more traffic than a PR7 site.
Anybody know how much it really costs for a sitewide link with statcounter? I emailed them but received no response. I would love a link saying Free Webmaster Tools I would advertise with them just for the traffic alone!
Yea that is probably a good point. I mean this probably has something to do with the "lasted Google PR/link update" that shocked and rocked the internet nation!
I'm using statcounter for my stats and I never clicked on a sponsored website. Some adwords ads were more appealing though.
Exactly...you people are forgetting that PR is divided by all outbound links. They have 16 links..none would get much PR passed to it because of this.
Well pricing information is now readily available for sponsored links on their site! Item Name Price Days Cost-Per-Day 1-Day Text Ad Link $76.66 1 $76.66 7-Day Text Ad Link $536.62 7 $76.66 30-Day Text Ad Link $2299.80 30 $76.66
How would Google know if you are selling PR? If you don't mention it on your site then how in the world could they find out? Would it be through word of mouth, forums, etc. If the link is static on your pages then all they know is that it could just be a few sites that you are linking to just because it may interest your visitors.
this aren't notmal text links! this are links sold via Ads... service! Cut theyre 30% comission to see for how much you could get a backlink , without any "text ads broker"
Well , some seo experts pretend that all PR8 +++ websites are followed by google. If they see you seel Pr, they are just anihilate your out-going links
With so few pr 10 websites, it wouldn't be hard to flag this site, see the sponsored listings and hit the "pr kill switch" for the site or those links particularly. How many pr 10 links could you realistically get to your site, even 1 seems fishy and I'm sure would set off a flag for someone to manually inspect the links.
I placed a few of my links on wikipedia. Wikipedia isnt great for PR but it really helps the SERPs and traffic.
I bought a pr10 link through statcounter. I got murdered in the Serps, the next day. From page 1 for most of my most important terms to page 6. It has really hurt my business. You've been warned.
Yup. I use statcounter for alll my sites too! Very useful, especially for keywords used to find your site/s page/s. I have noticed the PR10 there for quite some time even before the Google dances since December 2005!! Is it for real?? Only Google knows!
I've read a few coments in forums over the past few years that the statcounter site and phpbb don't pass any value in paid links. So wouldn't bother with them unless you want the traffic direct from their site.
