I saw lot's of people here at DigitalPoint (and also on SitePoint) asking ... how much a PR10 backlink could cost, and I accidentaly found out the answeer! i was searching in google for keyword "php " , and it got in my attention a website with a PR10 !!!
    there URL is :
    www.statcounter.com

if you take a look on the lef tyou gona see lot's of sponsored lists. I was talking with a few SEO gurus about this website, and they told me that they allready known about this website, and a PR10 backlink from them it's only ... 1500 USD !!!!

I don't known if this information it's actualy true! but .... those with money... and that are interesting in trying out a PR10 backlink... they could try !

I doubt much PR gets passed. I'm sure google is well aware of this. Otherwise I could buy one and have a PR8-9 and make thousands a month reselling links.

Neither of the top two recommended sites are on the first page of the Google SERPs for the anchor text they're targetting (first one is on middle of page 3, second is on middle of page 2). Doesn't seem to be such a good investment.

3 of the top 6 sites on that list are PR6. That doesn't sound like they have a PR10 link that is passing rank. Like most college newspapers that sold links, links from sites like statcounter have been neutered if all you're after is PR.

Yes, i was also saw that ... but was thinking that the only problem is "time delay" between google updates. I mean ... what if those websites where recently advertesing?! and only for hunting SERPS/PR ... then they saw that a PR10 is very expensive for moving on on SERPS, and that more efficients& cheap are (for example) only 10 PR3-4 backlinks?!

Anyway I will do a little resource, I am gona use that Back Time Watch Machine :p

statcounter even links to this site and it's just pr5 http://www.fileedge.com/

so kinda useless buying a link there.
I think it's probably because the links are marked as kinda paid links, so google doesn't give them much value

Yeah, shame on people for trying to profit from advertising. Their websites should be removed from all SE indexes, they should be heavily fined, face jail time, their websites shut down and their domains put up for public auction.

I'd even recommend the death penalty, but the bleeding hearts might object.

Even worse are the scoundrels that are buying those links from these shady websites, bypassing reputable programs like Adwords thus having negative influence on the economy. These criminals should by tried under military law for treason, then drawn and quartered.

    The nerve!

i agree with you, but we should keep in mind that the link to the PR5 site could have been recently added and therefore not have had time to receive any pr in an update.

but ya, it's beside the point because i'm sure statcounter has been flagged.

    Link Seller = Hooker
    Link Buyer = John
    Google = Pimp

And you know what happens when you cross a pimp;)

Statcounter at least restricts the type of links it sells - they need to be web or web dev related. They won't take gambling or a non-related e-commerce site.
