<$20,000/month in AdSense revenue (from everything, not just forum). The forum certainly isn't run because I'm trying to get rich off the AdSense that runs on it.
At Last Shawn told the correct amount And look at this guy : http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showpost.php?p=955949&postcount=1 He just said 100 times lesser
Ahhh i was right when i said $1K/ day ... and i forgot that 50% of revenue is shared with members. So now reduce this amount to $500 /day from this forum only
It's LESS Than $20,000... I didn't mean it was close to it... just less. And my AdSense numbers include more than just the forum.
No matter whatever DP is making, you really deserves more than that. The quality and popularity of the forum is beyond expectations. In any case revenues from adsense will be low as its a webmaster's forum and we all know about google ads and does any member here really click on those ads? i guess most of the hits are from users browsing DP first time...rest are hits for ads which creates certain amount of curiosity even among webmasters...
According to Alexa, digitalpoint is the #155 most visited website from the internet http://www.alexa.com/data/details/traffic_details?q=&url=digitalpoint.com So 20,000 USD i think is a very true rate
I agree with the person (MattUK) who felt it was a bit tacky to ask in the first place. It needs to be reiterated that "X" amount of gross revenue does not mean someone is swimming in profit. The overhead required to keep a site of this size online is undoubtedly extreme. I seem to remember reading about DP recently installing a new Blade cluster and a couple of load balancers into their co-lo. The fact that they need that kind of processing horsepower is indicative of an extremely bandwidth intensive operation. With all of the work and aggravation that goes into a business like this one, whatever the site owner actually makes after expenses isn't nearly enough.
Thanks Shawn, and thumbs up for good forum! p.s. this post wasn't rude but created by curiousity since AdSense revenue is shared.
It was $10,000 in JAN. I read here ==> http://www.jensense.com/archives/2006/01/digitalpoint_in.html Shawn disclosed in january 2006. hehe! But now i believe more than that
Shawn, I have started quite a few threads in DP and according to DP as far as revenue sharing goes I should see something coming my way. At present I have seen zip. Not complaining at all as I make enough from other sources. Just wondering if you can shed some light on this as I see others have started threads about this question over revenue sharing. Any comment appreciated. Col
