...Buy in Links per month? I know newer directories like AliveDirectory, are big in buying links from Directories(submissions) and Site-Wide link exchanges as well as big content sites. To me it looks like their spending $xx,xxx.xx! Is the Directory Industry that big? If somebody can direct me to a research group that, "we estimate the directory sector of search to produce $XXXXXXXX in 2007". Thanks,
I do not think that people are using directory to find information any more. The only two directories I really use are DMOZ and Yaoo. The rest are purely for linking reason. they are spending money in buying link (or submission), because they like to get their PR quick so that they can charge for it.
Links in other directories and on related websites for my own directories. This is to get my pr up, visitors coming in, and in general building up my directories so that once I hit so many visitors per day, so many links in my directories, I can move them from a free status to a paid status. Niche directories have a better visitor count than a general directory.
Yes, but what is the Directory business, how much per year does it do in revenues. Is it part of the $15Billion in Search? I'm guess it is because SEO is in that figure.
My real question is that Your website AliveDirectory is spending thousands of dollars every month to promote your directory, PR, Traffic, etc. Is the Directory Business that lucrative? My thought is only a few thousand paying websites is possible.
If you spend $1,000 and build a high PR (like 6+) directory you can make some money if you keep it low density and have all your pages cached. Not mind blowing, but it can be done. Chris (owner of AliveDirectory) probably won't break even for a while... but once he does he will do well. He'll probably develop the highest PR paid directory in this business over the next several months. It wouldn't suprise me. He's a good operator.
