I dont think programming the site will cost too much or take too long, but to be succesfull you will need to have a big advertising budget.

completely depends upon the features you are planning to provide to end-users.
the site you mentioned above currently only has - 633,570

But i have a bit of information of large dataing portals in US like myspace.com

They are running across 150 servers in 2 places on SAN network.
Have a NOC setup to take care of problems running 24*7

Imagine the costs involved setting up the infrastructure, wages of people maintaing the site, assets involved in maintenace, datacenter etc.

    australianseo,

Similar and better programs/scripts exsit out there for under $300-400 AUD, but just like 1234244 says "but to be succesfull you will need to have a big advertising budget."

It's all about patience and perserverance and being able to support yourself financially until you turn a $.

Advertising costs are on the rise (as always) and accurate stats along with find the correct target market is crucial. If you only ran this site in Australia all I could say is good luck, 20mill people just isn't enough.

Get a good business plan together, a good backup forum from your program designers and have a passion for it. I am sure you could make a go of it if you start with these.

Hey the base idea is good! More love in the world.

As for the cost of websites, dating website scripts with functionaliyu like match.com and other popular dating websites are available for as less as $500, what is important today is getting the userbase as far as I know.

Personally unless you have a damn good marketing head on you, I wouldn't consider a dating site. I have considered it, and there are plenty of ways to grow the datatbase, but none of them easy, although some of them are cheap. Honestly the way I looked at it was that it is going to need a complete online/offline marketing package for the site to work properly.

Good luck though, as the money earned can be fantastic.

Go for a niche. Instead of a general dating site, go for something focused, so that you can get a bigger (or biggest) slice of that market.

setting up a third-party script (depending upon the documentation and ease of use) it would just take a matter of minutes, althogh re-designing of templates + adding other customizations etc. could take time (depnding on your needs)

Roughly - less then a month.

i think you should budget at $300-$350 for a good quality web site. I don't tell you that it will be best but it will be a good one. Thank you.
