    Hello,

For all the experienced people in the industry, i would really like to know how much does an articles like this cost.

    http://www.nytimes.com/2007/09/16/business/16mba.html?_r=1&oref=slogin

    It is 2663 words .

When i mean how much does it cost, i mean how much would it cost if i were to hire a freelancer to do it?

Im in the recruitment industry so this is what im talking about.

    $500?

    $1000?

    Thanks, REALLY APPRECIATE IT.

I'm not sure of the exact rate the NY Times pays (others might be), but I can tell you that there is no way that article cost less than $0.30-$0.50 per word. It might have cost upwards of $0.75 per word. Overall, I'd say you'd be looking at $800-$2500. Sorry I can't be more specific, but I couldn't find any submission guidelines on the site anywhere - I'm not even sure if they accept freelance queries or submissions.

I believe that the NYT must have paid at least $2000 for this article.I have written such quality articles for some print media including magazines. Payment was not up to this tune ofcourse. I have been able to earn up to $450 for an article.NYT is still a dream to come true. Considering the available market potentialities and the webmaster's revenue resources this article should be tagged with not less than $750 or so.I have a little doubt about the webmaster's potential for paying this much here on DP.
There are freelancers who earn handsomely. There are many others who write extremely well but do not have a right platform and more avenues. It is all about knowing more and more about changing market trends. We must consider the fact that every website is not a high-earning website and thus webmasters have their own problems.Similarly writers may also have their own circumstances compelling them to sell their products with less price tags.

I am sure if you look, you'll find a great writer like that. I know for a fact because I do this that I get offers alot because I write articles and submit them get a lot of people who want to know if my articles are for sale or what not.

It's pretty cool, and anyone can do this or find them.

Yes, the NYT obviously has high pay rates. As mentioned I would guess in excess of $.50/word. With that being said, you may be able to find a freelance writer who could offer similar quality for less. If you want more information on this send me a pm.

If she's working as a journalist for NYT, she isn't making freelance rates, but she's being paid when she's "on the clock."

However, let's assume she's a freelance writer. Newspapers pay less than magazines. If this were a magazine feature (solid magazine), $1 per word would be the entry point and it would not be uncommon for a solid writer to receive 2-3 times that.

Professional writers typical charge rates that you'll find in publications such as the Writer's Market.

As with anything, your education (big keyword here) and "successful" experience matter.

    LOL! ...
It all depends on where you are based. If you live in India, in Argentina or in any other Third World country, call yourself lucky if you get 5 dollars for 500 words!

They should have more faith in their abilities.
