Does my final daily earnings reflect the kickback that blogspot gets for "allowing" us bloggers to use Google Adsense? Or is there a some sort of monthly or final audit before paychecks are issued?
BlogSpot does not get a "kickback". The stats you see typically are what you get at the end of the month (there is no audit after the fact).
Kick back, taking a piece of the action, revenue sharing, whatever term that you wish to use. I suppose it's fair, blogger is 'free' after all, though it does somewhat grate at the nerves. I still however am curious as to how much Blogspot takes from the blogger's bottomline. http://help.blogger.com/bin/answer.py?answer=1059
That also begs the question, is it only Blogspot bloggers that affected by this revenue sharing / skimming? Maybe I should consider going for a real domain.
Well, I understand that. Adsense takes the lion's share... my only question and concern is: does BlogSpot also take a further cut of an already shrinking pie? Simply because AdSense and BlogSpot are owned by Google, doesn't mean they aren't treated as business sub-entities under the parent umbrella. PS And to the person that neg repped for me pointing this out (with a quote from a Google blogger specialist), it's clearly stated that SOMETHING is being taken out of the advertising revenue. Whether this is going to AdSense as a subsidiary of Google or simply Google taking it's normal share is unlcear. So is it [Revenue - Google] or is it [Revenue - Google (parent company) - BlogSpot (child company)]? So bite me.
I sort of see what you are getting at...The bottom line of your questions is, "Will I make less as a publisher if I sign up for adsense through BlogSpot?". Is that right?
Correct. The confusion arises from the article arises is when he says "we", is it the Google imperial "we"? or the smaller BlogSpot company "we"? If it's the latter, and we already know that Google is collecting the lion's share of adverts, than it's a case of "double dipping." Note, Blogspot used to have their own advertising going on, so they had income being generated by those blogs with or without blogger's consent. With the advent of AdSense, that extra revenue to BlogSpot dried up and then what replaced it? Subsidized handouts from the Google parent? or through BlogSpot AdSense revenue sharing?
I see what you're getting at, but it seems highly unlikely that just because you sign up through blogger or put your adsense on a blogger blog, they would give you a smaller percentage of the revenue. JMO
Well, then that would be a worthy question, but I highly doubt that Google is paying themself an "affiliate" fee from the publishers pocket. More importantly, I don't care because I didn't sign up for adsense through blogger. And, damn it, the world revolves around me...(I'm kidding, by the way ...)
