How much could a professional design increase the value of a pr5 website by?

And, more generally, what could be done besides get more revenue and traffic to increase the value of a website?

purely depends on the site/domain name/traffic and earning potential.

I would rather have a poorly designed site that earns a lot of money than a professionally designed site that doesn't make anything. When it comes down to it, it's about revenue and/or traffic.

If you go with a professional design - and it increases revenue, then it is automatically worth more. If the design does nothing, then I think it has little added value.

Its all about the #s not the aesthetics. However in order to pull in good numbers you may need to have an at least user friendly site with the proper tags, content and such.

I dont think a design could increase the value of a domain, its basically down to the memorability of a name. After all you cant attach designs to a name.

agree with what most of you said, but note that there is a correlation between the site's design and revenue. a new visitor would be less inclined to part with money in a badly designed site than in a well designed site.

so a good design counts... ;)

Actually we can, thats what we call a logo. When I say AT&T what do you think of?

Anyway, that sort of branding is usually only useful to the big boys. Unless your planning to reach millions there is little value in investing so much effort into it.

If you're talking about improving the design in order to quickly turn around and seel the site then I don't think it will help the selling price that much. It all depends upon the revenue or traffic the site gets now. Good revenue and/or good traffic is highly valuable regardless of site design. However, if you are contemplating improving the design and utilizing that - over time - to increase your revenue and traffic then it could help improve the overall value of the site significantly.
