How Much Do You Personally Make as a Web Developer?

I'm an internet marketer. I construct relatively simple Web sites to see through my marketing activities.

Recently, I've started to hone my Web development skills with the aim of also becoming a full-blown Web developer. With that in mind, I wanted to ask a few quick questions.

    • How much do you, as a pro Web developer, actually make?
    • How much can a pro Web developer potentially make?
    • What might the salary be of a pro Web developer if employed by a respectable company?
    • Is there more money in freelance Web development?
    • I am quite rehearsed in XHTML and CSS. I am also learning JavaScript, PHP and MySQL. What other languages should I set my sights on?

.asp is becoming quite popular, find out about ajax too... Starting to play big roles in development.

I personally don't make much money but i've only been in web development for 6 months now... Still getting better.

Some other cool things you could learn to do is, since you're learning php, make some wordpress themes, joomla, zencart etc. But that is only if you want to get used to coding themes/templates for Content Management Systems.

The biggest challenge i have faced is getting people to trust me over the internet lol... I just have trouble getting work due to low post counts and stuff.

It's also hard to compete with foreigners, 10 pounds to them will feed them for a month, where as 10 pounds here will feed me for less than a week. But a lot of them are crap at what they do. Shoddy workmanship etc so there is always the chance you might actually get some work.

Of course tho if you can get a decent guy to work for, they sometimes will throw a lot of work your way.
