How much do you know about subdomains?

Do you think it would be better to buy my sub domains from 123-reg.co.uk rather than get it free with my hosting from byethost.com

The reason I say this is because If I buy it then legally its mine (I have full rights over the domains right?)

If I get it with my hosting, can they take them down if my account goes on hold/late payment or for any reason. Will I be able to keep them even if i leave that hosting company?

Thanks, your help will be great.

Subdomains are just folders inside your main folder, you'll need hosting regardless. Not sure how you expect 123-reg.co.uk to do it all for free, you are responsible for paying your hosting fees...

No its 10 subdomains for £80

    I host with Byethost.com

I pay £3 a month and get unlimited sub-domains for free incliuded with my package.

Im asking, if I was to change hosts will I lose my sub domains? If I close my hosting account will I lose all my sub domains that was associated with it?

    Does that make sense now:confused:

Are you talking about sub-domains or add-on domains?

As domainloco said, sub-domains are just folders inside your main folder

xxxxx.yoursite.com where xxxxx is your subdomain. You will not lose the sub-domain when you move to another hosting.

yh, im talking about a sub domain lool.

So I would not lose it if I was to get it unluded in my hosting?

Thats a service im paying for, so surely the SUB domain would be removed if I closed the hosting account?

Whats an example of an add on domain?

As long you own the main domain you can create back the subdomain once you move to the new hosting.

Addon domain is another domain that you can add beside your main domain that is associated to your hosting account.

It is always good to have your own domain name no matter what. Millions of people lost their subdomains when Yahoo decided to close Geocities. Why taking chance anyway to put your baby (website) under the control of somebody else hand and destiny.
    Good luck
