How much do you charge for SEO services?

I have recently started doing SEO for a few close friends. It will be a help to them and I will get to polish my skills. I have learnt SEO work through the net. As my friend loved my job, he recommended some small firms to hire me for the same. Now, I have thought of charging them. But, I am not aware of what kind of charges is involved with SEO. The companies told me that they would pay me £500 in advance for my work. And if I get their keywords on the top ranking, then they will give me £200 for every keyword phrase that gets listed on the top 10. Is this a fair deal?

dunno this depends on a whatever market/niche you are hoping to target, I'm assuming these are offline businesses right ? Hopefully these are not higghly competitive ie make money , weight-loss etc, SEO consultants that I've seen personally charge upwards of $3000 and a mandatory $300 per month for ranking upkeep.

SEO charges depends on keyword difficulty. If the keywords are like 'used cars' or 'debt consolidation' which have huge competition, you can not show results in a short span of time - I charge thousands of dollars to rank for such keywords.

You are doing good with that rate.

I hope the competitiveness of your targeted keyword is not that high.

Prices vary simply on what you will be providing. Some seo's provide real value and results, others don't. We have charged under $100 for a kw, and over $5000 for one kw. All depends on the competition, the clients site etc etc..
