I invested a pretty good amount of money into my hosting company, because if you're going to do things, might as well do them right from the start. Full certified staff, high end servers, and a datacenter don't come cheap ;) . But reliablesite.net has been pretty successful, so its been worth every penny!

    IMO question is not targeted.

I can say i spend money monthly...
    - servers, hosting
    - new domains, and paying for old domains
    - buying good quality links
    - paying for people to do some work for me...
    - my time is the money! which i spend a lot daily to do online things!

if you make $100000 . After tax you get $70000 . its best to save 50% for future and spend rest 50% in online business ... Also get another job to meet your living expenses and take affiliate marketing as part time.

Yeah, I have another job with whom I'm living and part of my money and lot of time I invest in my online business building various websites. Currently I have ~10 domains but only 4-5 have content right now...

The most precious thing that everyone invests is your time.

You can always get more money... always.

    But not time.

when I think "invest," I think start up capital, not on-going expenses. those could drastically change things.

compared to the amount of money I've made, the money I've invested is very, very minimal. lot of time invested, though. :)

yet it generally takes time to get some more money ;)

Somebody asked one famous person (I don't know which one) : "how much money is enough?". He answered "Just a little bit more.".

I think it was Cherchill but I'm not sure.

Hey I liked that question...I'd be the under $1k guy, but have been thinking about bumping it up. I've been studying my user habits for my new site, and tryin to figure out how much they are worth on a annual basis. It breaks down to each member is worth about $12 per year. I just started using yahoo to advertise, and it is costing me about $16 for 10 new members. I have yet to start ads on the site though so going without return right now.

I invested $1200 USD in my most recent site which paid off after 7 months. If i could do it all again, from what I have learnt the first time around I could probably do the same with about $400.

Overall for my first online startup, probably about £20k. If I knew then what I know now, I could have saved myself about 25-30%.
