it really beats me that some web services here are charging an arm and a leg for creating a simple page like this. http://www.fachanwaelte-eschborn.de Apparantly a company was charged $ 3633,00 for the creation of this site. The invoice sum was justified as the creater needed 42 hours to make it. The customer doesnt like the pictures on the page and requested that zoom size be made larger. The site creators said this would need at least 14 hours worktime and could prove to be very expensive. Also the company was informed that making sites using FLASH ( I cant find any flash ) always cost that much due to the amount of work needed. All I see is a site with a small image zoom script and some text... It would be nice to know how much you think this page should be worth and how long it should have taken to create. ( would also like to charge like this if I could ) ;-) Please leave some feedback so I can show these guys how much they ve been ripped. btw....the site in question is an attorney at law in Frankfurt ( ha ha ) and the page is to be used as a kind of welcome page and redirect each user to the correct category thanx ppl
$3633 for that ? Really now..I personally can create that in like 30 minutes Something like this would be like $100 or less.. PS: there's no piece of flash in there
Yes...thanx for your input. If I were to guess myself I would have said an hours work and somewhere between 50 and 100 bux. Its just ONE page for christsake! I think the image zoom script costs about 20 bux too.
It will cost you more if you want to make customized one you should take ready script if you want cheap option
Each of the pictures are on a separate layer. All the 3 layers are part of another layer. When they expand they don't show outside the big layer.
OMG! I believe that a monkey (with some training) could make that page. MINUS its design of course but... You never know? I am GOBSMACKED at such a price. I have dealt with much more complex and better looking websites that come no where near the cost. ~ Mike
yeahh....somehow it makes you think. Would I charge that kind of money if I could be certain the customer would pay without question. As these are good friends of mine I probably would have charged them a crate of beer or a bucket of champagne ;-)
Yeah that's a darn shame they got taken for THAT not to mention it looks sterile and the images do suck.
I would not have charged money... If it was me doing the work and it really was as simple as we all seem to agree then i take vote on just going out to the pub and they by the first few drinks.... Sure that will keep me happy though ~ Mike
The company that did the site a legit company called blue.de. The site is simple and has a handfull of references. Nonetheless, I am still horrified at this incredible price for a simple page. as I said, I would have done the site for a cold beer dinner. Im not sure whats its like elsewhere but when it comes to making prices business sites, it seems no one has a clue of what they are buying. The seller are filling their heads with technical terms which no one understands. Not everyone knows what a script ist or what CSM stands for......there people who dont know what they are buying. thanx for the input though
First of all I guess its not free work but obviously the price charged is beyond doubt a super over charging. I would get it done for around $50 bucks. They did implement a non-clickable feature though. lol.. About the flash they must have deceived their customer by saying the script is flash. No comment as I cannot seem to find any sort of flash at that page.
$10 is enough to make the page and the image effects . The page is gray with little colors and all the font size are nearly the same . It is not good to highlight the services , products or slogans.
lol....I just found out that the money hasnt been paid yet and upon request the webmaster has sent a job list of this page. Although it may seem hard to believe, they actually needed 2485 minutes to complete this page and listed a whole lot of technical terms no one at the office could ever start to comprehend. Amongst other thing they needed: 320 mins to convert the photos into layers 180 mins to load zoom script and adjust the photos to size 250 mins for layout 300 mins to edit the photos and make minor color adjustments the list goes on and on and ends up with 2485 Minutes. Bottom of the line is EURO 2600 grand total ( $ 3600 ). By the way, would a zoom java script like the one used interfere with Googles ability to index the page correctly and also index the pictures?. Isnt it a lot of code for just ONE PAGE ??
Even kids in high school could do that given the proper tools. Remind me to rip off a $3000+ on a client lawyer
