How much can I expect for a blog if I sell it on DP?

I have a 3+ year old PR6 blog with a steady stream of about 200-500 unique visitors a day. The blog is "clean" - no paid posts etc. I make around $300 per month from link sales, and a paltry $10-$20 maybe from adsense every month.

The domain name is catchy, seven letters, two words, and this is quite a unique, well-appreciated blog related to blogging, broadly speaking.

So how much can I expect. Can I hope to get $4000 or upwards?
Can I get a correct estimate of the value without actually selling it?
I don't really want to post a for sale ad and then finally just not sell the blog - this might even be illegal/incorrect on DP, right? So how do I get an estimate?

I would estimate the site's value much higher than $4K, but that is just me speaking.

Also, When I sell it on DP, how can I set a reserve price without anyone else seeing it in the listing? How low should I start the sale?

Lots of questions, I know - I will be grateful for opinions and ideas.

Thanks leede, that is what I thought - however, I was hoping that it would bring in more than the 10x monthly, in view of the good domain name, reputation and age.

One other problem is that when I sell it I don't want it to fall into unscrupulous hands - so that's a challenge, too.

I have PMed you the URL.

You can ask for an estimate in the site section here or you could start an auction and see if you get what you expected for it. If you don't you have are under no obligation to sell. Just make it clear in your first post that you have the right not to sell the site at the end of the auction etc.

    Thanks :)

worth $4000 mab a little more but very few people on dp are willing to pay that much for a site. You could make an auction with a reserve or just make a [WTS] thread

Based On Your current earnings I'd reiterate the other values, But if you are going to do a sales pitch I'd reccomend you stress that you've been doing the blog Cleanly, And that the scope for people to do it with affiliate links in the posts would bring up the revenue By a fair ammount.

Thank you for your suggestions, folks. I really appreciate it. I don't like the idea of posting a WTS post to find out the price, so I will just hold on to it for now, and then maybe when I sell it, start bidding at $2000. That should keep the jokers at bay :)

Probably $4000 easy, but not many people in DP will pay for that.

Try Ebay...it should work, and you might even get upto $5000.

Actually ebay is tough, you put a reserve no one bids but if you dont and start the bid low you get lowballed hard....check out sitepoint marketplace

Depends on what your site is exactly, that being said you can get around 4-8x monthly income on DP and 10x on SP but again it depends on your site and how popular it is to buyers.

SitePoint looks like a good option - better than ebay, where I couldn't find many other sites like the one I am trying to get the price of.
