How much can I charge for advertising?

    Hi,
I'm interested in selling advertising space on my site: www.googleidol.com and am not sure of the 'going rate'. I've been contacted by a number of individuals who would like to buy space for banners and text links, but I just don't know how to set up a 'rate card' or pricing structure.

My adsense generates an average of 2,500 to 3,000 clicks per week, so I've worked out an average cost of what I can possibly make out of that and have come up with the following:

US$300 / week for the main adsense bar at the top of every page.
But noone is going for this and says it's too much. How can I figure out a good price to charge?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Ben

If you could possibly show some form of a stat page photo for how many click you get a month on the top bar that would probably help too. But if it were me, I wouldn't charge more than $200. But then again some laaaarge sites are charging in the thousands per week.

I'd actually worry about trademark issues with that domain name, there's a thread about AOL going after people for it in the Legal Issues and the best example of a corporation going after the little guy being Nissan.com (www.nissan.com).

Google just disables adsense ads on any domain using one of their trademarked names.
In this case, he will at some point get an email from google to remove his adsense ads.
Usually, google does not want to get these domains for their own, but that could change as now google is registered hundreds of domain names that have their trademarks in the domain name.

So at some point, google lawyers will want this domain for their own.

    Bottom line?
I would not advertise in this domain for the above reasons.

    Thanks for the tip.

But, let's just imagine I wanted to advertise anyway... what's the going rate??? How much could I charge for a text link in the left hand panel?

Can anyone give me a figure rather than going on about my domain name?
