I'd say about 10-15 times as many searches are performed on google over yahoo... what do you all think?

That's just about right. I could even go as far as saying it's about 20 times more. Not a lot uses Yahoo to search stuff anymore.

If you are talking about size in terms of market capitalization, Google is $214.40B whileas Yahoo is $31.86B. Google is about 7x the size of Yahoo!

But Yahoo is still used by many people. I know that Google is a mile ahead of Yahoo and MSN in search terms but Yahoo is still having millions of loyal surfers and searchers worldwide, they are especially powerful for shopping websites.

Yahoo is more of a portal, Yahoo Financial services are really second to none and their Yahoo mail was long established before Google. But Google is slowly encroaching upon Yahoo niche positions.

If Yahoo hadn't come up with Yahoo Answers their search volume and overall traffic would be just about as equal as a sock specialists:eek:

I get 10 times less traffic from yahoo as I do from google. And this is accross multiple sites...It also could be that my methods of optimization attract google.

Perhaps the best way to look at it is when you have equal amounts of traffic from each search engine where are you placing on the organic results?

Using my main search phrase on my main Real Estate site I was recently at #3 on Google and #1 on Yahoo at the same time. They were approximately equal in terms of visitors.
