The answer to the question: "why do some writers settle for .10 cent/word articles?" Some good writers live in third world countries, that's why. That amount already has good value, let's say, for a 500-word article. So paying a low amount for articles do not necessarily mean that the output is below global standards. I can speak for myself as I am an experienced writer who happens to be in a third world country. I've had clients from Spain, Australia, and the USA who have not complained about my work, and I still have them up to this day. My point is, dollar cent payments are not synonymous to having ridiculous articles. For some writers, finding a $1 per word stint will be like winning the lottery Ice
I will agree that for somebody who has (backing) a lot of writing experience/clients/positive feedback then raising your prices are fair game. What people do to much of, is just post looking for 5 scent a word jobs but fail in experience, references and proof of work. This leads me to believe that they're just out for my money, and I know better than that. Paying more than $3 for a 200wrd article is a rip off, I dont care if the queen writes it for you.
Superpump, with all due respect for your opinions I must cordially disagree with you. Take a look at what a professional freelance writer charges. You will most definitely discover their rates are significantly higher than 3 dollars per article. Freelance writing is a job like any other. With that being said, those who actually do this for a living need to be paid decent wages.
First of all, I have yet to see many people on DP posting for five cents a word. Most writers on this forum are happy to get a job that pays one to two cents. If you're only paying $3 per 200 words, then you are paying a writer less than a dollar. I started out working for $0.0075 per, but I quickly realized that I was selling myself way too short. If you're paying under one cent per word, the quality of work you are going to receive will reflect how much you paid for it.
