How much are forums/communities worth?

Ok, so I have my site www.boardingscene.com which is a community with forums and such, and I was wondering... how much are sites like mine worth throughout their sizes.

Anyone got an idea of the member/post/thread ratio to the price of your site?

I was trying to decide if it would be better to sell the site in like 6 months, or to keep it.

Oviously if I was offered somethingin the $x,xxx range, my site would be gon in seconds.

    Thanks!

The bigger it is and the more traffic you have the more it is worth.....Rev also palys a factor here....You could have a massive site with NO rev and still get BIG BUCKS for it because of the potential to make money with it.

I think traffic is the biggest factor for me if I was buying a big site....If the traffic is there anything is possible..

I dont think your site would pull in x,xxx if you wanted to sell. Its not big enough for that type of money yet. Maybe one day though.

All above is just my opinion though....

I was interested in your site but the thread pretty much died with no bids.

How much did you spend on the design/advertising/etc?

a big factor would be whether or not the members you have are active and post regularly or not.

Weren't you recently selling sites so you could "buy a house"? With all the sites you are looking to buy now, I wonder what the real reason behind selling the pet site was?

It's got 70 members and 700 posts (200 of which are yours).... I would say keep it unless your going to sell for low $xxx

I just recently put a down payment on a house THANK YOU.

This isn't a sales thread anyways, I am trying to help cky47 determine the price for his site, not buy it.

I can be INTERESTED in purchasing, but that doesn't mean i will buy. No need for questioning this here.

The site has about 5-7 users that are active on the site almost 24/7. It gets anywhere from 50-10 posts a day, and about 2-5 members a day. It is not banned from adsense, but I have not got accepted yet. I am setting up a account on cj.com and the normal programs pay about $5-$30 a sale, which is nard hard to do since the highly related products such as skateboard decks and clothing.

Right now the traffic is at about 3,000 a day as of the past 3 days, and about 750 uniques a day. The traffic has been increasing at a rate of about 50-100 more uniques a day, and does not seem to be slowing down.

The site definately has potential, its just that I will be getting my drivers license in about 5 months, so I could use the money. (Yea I am still really young... and I am pretty successful online)

So far I spent $45 for a used leased license of Vbulletin, about $225 for the graphic work on the site (I am a web designer, but I am not the greatest at the art part of it), and about $50 on advertising and such.

The site is still young and does have too much activity in the serps, except for the video page which is a pr4. I have been running the video page alot longer than the actual site. The actual site has not accomplished a pr yet, but it is ranking well in some related keywords.

Just looking for some tips on what I should do.
