How may accidental clicks are too much

I just had an accidental click for the third time spread over 6 months.

Is that normal? Or would that be considered too much?

Has anyone been banned for too many accidental clicks?

I highly doubt it, I think they just ban if you're clicking on your own ads regularly, on purpose...

Cool, because three times seemed like a fair bit to me.

I've clicked my own ads like 4 times within a 2 month span, but I've emailed Google about it right away.

    Damn! :D
With this accidental click I swear I did nothing, it was almost like a redirect.
Of course that's impossible, but I really can't remember clicking. Suddenly a mediadepot page came up

If you're in doubt at all, I know it's a good idea to email them and tell them what happened. From what I've heard they're pretty understanding about it and since most people don't say anything, they'll be impressed with your honesty.

Yeah thanks Joshua, I sent them an email. That's why I am concerned, because this is my third email to them about accidental clicks.
I hope my spelling is better than the title of this thread, lol.

They come down like a hammer when they come. Usually you'll get a warning first though.

I think the email is a good way to go; for one, it's not like they can't detect the click anyways, and for two it leaves less confusion that you might have done it intentionally. :)

I've done this in the past and I've found that if I get in there early with an email explaining the situation there isn't a problem.

How many clicks do you think they accept? If you email them ...

Any moron coding fraud detection alogorithms would know to account for the odd accidental click, so I'm sure google does this. In other
words, don't worry about infrequent, single accidental clicks resulting in a ban.

I wouldn't worry about accidental clicks that happen once a month or even once a week. Adsense looks for patterns, such as clicking on your ad twice or three times a day, etc. They probably have a built-in system to accept accidental clicks and invalidates them right away if they know it's you.

That's exactly the same for me, my very first click was one I acidentally did myself. I had just loaded my first Adsense and was checking the page and clicked it without thinking. Like you it showed 1 click and $0.00. I'm more careful now. :)

The thing I find annoying is, if it is that easy to detect self clicks and set them to $0.00, why don't they just automatically ignore it without penalising the publisher? Something like:

    1) Publisher self click detected
    2) Don't charge advertiser
    3) Don't pay publisher
    4) Don't update click statistics

That way, the publisher wouldn't have to live in fear and the advertiser wouldn't be charged and 'could' get more traffic. I know I often see ads on my own site that I'd like to visit and have to type the URL into another browser manually.
