Just dive right in and start reading. There's a ton of basic info available on these forums but understand that nobody is going to tell you "EVERYTHING" unless they're selling something. That's not a bad thing, just be prepared to pay for the info. Or you can test and test and test. Apply what you learn and test it. Always remember that what works for them may not necessarily work for you.

There are almost endless method of marketing. Don't get yourself dispersed with trying all these methods. Try to learn and follow one method fully and slowly learn the second method and so on.
All good points here but I think it's important to realize that everyone learns differently. Some do best with the "read and teach myself" method while others do better with structure, like taking a course. Personally I do better with the latter especially if there are audio/visual aides. Having someone tell you "just read...." isn't useful unless you know what to focus on and why (at least for me). Either way, if you're new to marketing, start with the basics of online marketing as your foundation. I found once I did that I had a better understanding of each new method.
