How Many Words Before Inserting <--more--> ?

That <--more--> feature in WP is really nice. I never even knew it existed there until now. I read a few weeks back that you should be using this tag to avoid duplicate content. I am disallowing crawling of my Archives, but not Categories. So this is important now that I do this.

I'm just wondering when I should insert the tag? The thing is, my posts are of various lengths. I might write a post that is only 75 words, or I might write something that is 350 words. If I use that MORE tag on such a small post, it's going to look a bit silly.

    Your opinions and advice?

I use it more like a movie trailer, I put it from where the main theme of post starts
