As others have said, it depends on how much of your sites are automated. If you don't need to be managing content and updates personally on a daily or hourly basis, you can have a lot more sites. One busy site that isn't well managed could easily eat up all of your time, while perhaps if you have good automation and connected sites, you might be able to handle dozens or even hundreds. If your sites are similar to each other and need similarly-styled updates, it's probably faster as well.

It's also going to depend on the types of sites. Forums and blogs are going to require a lot more work than a static web site, for example.

If I had to pin a number on it, I'd say most people could handle 5 sites or so before they would need things to be nearly fully automated. After that point, it's probably hard to say - hundreds of automated sites, perhaps.

it depends on how much maintenance is required by the sites... some sites require very little maintenance if at all...

if you are talking about blogs that are designed to be adsense sites, well, blogs naturally take a lot of time... i think even 20 is ambitious... how many posts can one write every day and manage to keep the site interesting?

I have been handling 9 sites. But attention goes to two sites. This is because some of these sites are forums where you can monitor the members once in a week.

I have a friend with about 300 sites (no lie) that take him very little time, but don't make much money. I've got other friends with one or two sites that do quite well and are very time consuming. So, tough question to answer....

that is very relative question. For example I know people who handle 50 sites, and each of them makes $10 monthly, and on the other side I know people who handle 1 site that makes 100K+ monthly...So, depends what you want, if you want to have world record in 'handling number of sites' that is OK, but if you want to make money than FOCUS on 1 ...just my 2 cents

Everyone has the polygamy mind set, which is why most dont get anything done. You see little progress on something, so you move on to another project or website that would be the next jackpot. Focus to make the one website work, rather then having 20 to maintain.

I feel like that's just way too much to have on your plate. The most I recommend is 10 and even then, that's going to take up a lot of your time. Never let quantity get in the way of your online business integrity. The same concept applies to online business, "Quality over Quantity." Maintain a good amount of sites but don't let it overrun you.

It all depends on how much of the work you're doing yourself. Once cannot manage more than 2-3 successful sites all by himself really, but with the proper people to outsource, even a 100 sites could be managed.

It depends of course on the degree to which you can a) automate updates to your website and b) outsource certain function to leverage other people's time (profitably).

It depends really. If I consider it as a baby, I give my full time and dedication in to one site.

yea.. the answer to that is dependent upon you... you can manage as many sites as you want, but there would definitely be a limit if u were doing it yourself... however if you outsource, then you can manage as many sites as your heart desires...

Thats a great question, I'm trying to learn all of this stuff and create online products with many separate url's and I also wonder how many one can personally manage.
