Last time I did some research checking here are some of the numbers I remember about domains, but not websites. There are around: 70 million .coms registered (mostly crap) with 240,000 transfered to new owners weekly 10 million .nets 5 million .orgs 3 million .info's 3 million . biz's and .us's 65, 000 expire everyday. There are around 162 extensions in the world Technorati says they have 72 million blogs registered alone.(and most of them suck) 200 million .coms are deleted frequently. Just by those numbers you would have to assume the number of actual websites is in the 100's of millions. There are over 1 billion people online and has been increasing by 200% yearly. and that is only 17% of the world population. So you can see how far there is to go. It's still a baby.
Number of websites/domains (Jul2007) 400 Million http://www.isc.org/index.pl?/ops/ds/ Number of internet users (Jun2007) about 1.2 Billion http://www.internetworldstats.com/stats.htm
