I'd say there are likely over 20 billion pages indexed by Google. The invisible web is currently finally being tapped and this will result in MANY more sites being added with unique pages. More pages = more content = saturation or more advanced algorithms adding better content for the consumption of Google's searchers as well as for other SEs. As for the number of sites in existence...There are over 80 million blogs in existence, let alone the number of sites...likely rather extreme. I'd have to go with a number of like possibly 8 sites....
I think there are a few hundred million websites (including blogs) at least. Maybe around 200-300 million.
Yes, it is 8 sites...Seriously though, the number is definitely above 400 million, some have estimated the number is past the point of 1 billion, but I doubt that high #
There were about 30 billion back in February. Just google about it and you will find the information.
wow i found this article on it http://www.pandia.com/sew/383-web-size.html they say it could be as high as 30 billion
31.235.231.984 and counting Just joking, I was reading an CNN article 2 years ago that was saying there was 6 billion + web sites, I think there is around 25 billion web sites today including blogs
i would say something around 5 billion!but that depends! someone might count wordpress.com 1 site and others thousands! but as affordnow.com said we can say there is a LOT of sites!
I think the main question here is, what do you define as a distinct website? I think it's impossible to keep count of them if you include subdomains and subfolders that people may be using for blogs. And does it matter if they are developed or not, or do we include parked pages? But if it's just domains we are talking about, it should be possible to get hold of figures from the various registrars. I actually don't think that the number of Google-indexed pages is rising all that much. It was at 8 billion some years ago, and now they're not displaying a figure. I suspect they've come to the point where they have decided that more isn't necessarily better for search, and many pages are now in the supplemental index (however large that may be).
