How Many Warnings Does It Take To Get Banned On Dp?

Can anyone explain exactly how the warnings work on DP now please?

I received a warning today for (I thought) innocently thanking a poster for giving some information and commenting that the blog they had posted about looked quite nice too and I'm now concerned that as I'm on two warnings (probably not too bad in 4 years + of using DP) I risk being banned at some point.

I've searched the FAQs but can't find anything that mentions how many warnings are likely to lead to being banned or if there is not a set limit on warnings and the banning process is completely under the control of the mods. I'd be interested to find out how the process actually works.

It takes five warning points for new members, ten for veteran members. Each warning carries a point value of from 1 to 10 points. The more serious the infraction the more points the offense carries. Each infraction expires after a certain period of time.

OK.. Thanks for that... I really appreciate the explanation.

A couple of queries about it please, if that's OK...

When does a member qualify as a 'veteran member'?

Is there any indication given of the actual points total or is that hidden?

Also, after the infraction has expired will it still show in the list of warnings on the account (as I have one showing from 2009 still!).. and if so, how would I now it has expired, or is that info hidden too?

    Sorry for so many questions.

Since we recently changed the site rules and software, I am not 100% sure of the answers to your questions so am not going to respond and potentially give incorrect information.

OK.. no problem. Perhaps Shawn or someone could chip in with some more details as I'm sure I'm not the only one who is a little unsure about how the system works.

When i click the "warnings" tab in my profile page it shows the reason, the date it was given, how many points it was worth and the date of expiry(or when it expired), its odd if yours doesn't show that.

Thanks Malky66.. Yes it does, I had just missed the 'warnings' tab (ie I hadn't checked properly.)

Smyrl has also been good enough to raise the query about the number of points that lead to being banned in the mods area to get some clarification on that too.

Well, I believe 10 warning will make you banned.. We have a number say 1,2,3 besides the warning at our profile which tells as how much serious the infraction is...

Your other answer: When you post 100+ you become Active member instead of Greenhorn... So you have 10 changes and after a period of time... the warning expires, Yes it still shows in to the profile page but as hidden(Faded) it means you dont have to worry about that.... You can not remove it completely from the profile,..

All things explained above so I just want want to add one line "one serious infraction is enough to ban"
