Read ad revenue earners talk about UV (unique visitor) and PV (Page Views).
Roughly how many UV , Page Views per mth is necessary to make at least $2K revenue per mth? Let us say on low cost high volume niche like entertainment :D

I would say 100k should easy bring that in. Depending on how things are laid out.

If you going to build a site for adsense, then you gonna need alot more.

I make on average 2k per month with a site that only brings 10k traffic. But not from adsense, but a product.

So it can vary! but 100k, should bring good numbers!

Probably depends a bit on the payout breakdown.

CPA - I like 500 UV per day as a good guess above. Depends on the Average Sale Price of the items you are targeting.

    PPC - I don't really use this enough to know...but I'm guessing 1.5 - 2K UV's a day ...would be my guess.

Anything is possible with CPA...you could have just great copy and convert well. At the same time you need to know how to market/get traffic to your site. Either way - its some work but $2K a month is certainly achievable with 'modest' traffic numbers.

Completely depends on the niche of your site. Particularly competitive, commercial sites can make $400 a month with less than 500 visitors. Less competitive niches would require substantially more visitors.

While the question is specific enough, there is no specific answer just because the potential variants of such scenario are huge! There is the entertainment content niche, banner design, banner positioning, and, something you cannot control - advertisers' bid amounts on keywords/ads displayed on your site.

You should really approach this problem backwards. Find out what the average click-through rate is for the niche you are looking for, try to do a search for websites that were for sale (to try to get their revenue numbers) and see what banner positions of google ads are on their site, or simply try to understand what clients bid for keywords of such a site, then put two together to get to traffic data:)

    So, here is the math.

    Your target = $2000
Let's assume a CPC of $0.2 for your entertainment niche.
    Clicks needed for $2000 = 2000/0.2 = 10,000 clicks
    Let's assume a CTR of 5%
Then you need 2,00,000 page views.
Assume a PV to UV ratio is 3 (normal)
You will need 66666.67 visitors a month
This turns out to 2222.22 a day :)

    Hope this helps :)

This is one reason why CPM is the way to go... it is up to the advertisers to make their banners worth clicking... you are able to forcast your revenue with how having to hope a user is clicking on your advertisements...
