how many times should a keyword be repeated per page

each page of my site will target a different keyword..

how many times should that particular keyword be repeated on each page..

there must be a magic number here..

clearly the more times it is repeated the higher chance google will pick it up as the main topic of the page...

but what is the magic number? what number do you guys aim for??

he he, no magic number, just common sense, use your keyword frecuently, but not in a way that a visitor will think "why the heck is this guy repeating this word over and over?"

Play around with your h tags and title also.

I know this is going to sound insane, but...

It doesn't seem to matter to Google.

Keyword density hasn't mattered for a little while now on Google. It heavily depends on the amount of links coming in, quality of links, keywords within links (anchor text), longevity of link placement, and link relevance.

Of course, you're going to want to sprinkle your keyword a few times on a page, in different variations and even different symantics (do a search in Google with your Keyword with the ~ in front).

Don't put all your eggs in the Google basket. Google might not give it much importance, but Yahoo and MSN sure do

They sure do. Over 10% is good for yahoo and MSN.

I tried to remove a few of my keywords recently (a little too heavily stuffed I thought) and Yahoo/MSN did not like the dive from around 11-13% to 7-9%.

Google didn't seem to care at all.

I wish they did... but they don't ;)

For Google, consider keyword placement. Ie, get decent words grouped together well, in close proximity. Keywords shoud be in the title, H1, and a few times throught the content.

I try to stay 2 - 5% for any density anyway seems to work fine for me.

Considering IBLs overshadow any on-page efforts KW density is probably the least of my worries. I'd rather get 1 more quality IBL than find the 'magic number' if there is such a thing.

And writing copy that converts the visitor is even more important IMO so 10%+ KW density is way too much I think.

    SeoObzor. You've posted 4 near-identical messages now. A 5th and you're out.

And you're not allowed a sig yet which I had to remove 4 times. I'm patient but the border is in sight...

I wouldn't focus on a given %. Write good readable copy and users will like. Cream always rises to the top.
