Never intentionally been scammed. But a couple of times I have been in the middle of a transaction and that member has been banned. So I never got the money but i suppose this was not an intentional scam.
Not as far as I know but my question is why isnt there a better method to report scammers? I see people trying to sell stolen content report the thread and nothing happens. That just isn't good enough in my mind.
It will never be possible to catch every single spammer, it's just not possible. There is the report button that you can use to report a thread, and I'm sure when Mods get these reports they look into it. You have to remember that DP is a big place, and there are bound to be some that slip through the net unfortunately. But the mod to members ratio is quite vast. So it must be quite a task for them sometimes.
Oh for sure, not something I'd like to take on. It's just when you see people blatantly scamming people it's pretty bad they are left to continue.
Well I always do deal by checking buyer/seller's history and it make me sure that there are low chance to be scam and so far on DP I never been scammed.
Two times One time for about $20 (duplicate article sent by seller) and another time for about $30 (hosting account provided by one dp member and gone) DON.
I've never been scammed. Just use a little common sense and you won't get scammed. Some tips: *Use verification like iTrader, or reputation points. *Check the guy's post history (does he sound like a legit guy?) *Ask for proof that the person owns the site/template you are going to buy (make him change or edit something) *Ask for references that the person might have *If the guy uses bad english or unprofessional language, be wary *Search the guy's name or username on Google and find more about him *Make sure you have some control and evidence over the transaction, so if you get scammed, you can report the guy and maybe get your money/domain/site back *If you are selling your site, you might want to make sure you're hosting company knows you're selling the site, so you can force the guy to give it back if something happens *USE ESCROW SERVICES FOR LARGE TRANSACTIONS (the escrow service can be done by anyone - a trusted person or even a site like Escrow.com)
