Is there a limit to the number of times that PayPal can investigate a transaction? PayPal has placed funds from the same transaction on hold three times already. (1) I sold some domains to a buyer. An hour after I received payment, I received an notification from Paypal that they're investigating the transaction because it may have been unauthorized. They placed the fund on temporary hold. I told the buyer that I won't transfer the domains until I get the money in my account. (2) After a week, I received a notification again informing me that the investigation was over and the funds were released to my account. I transferred the domains to the buyer. (3) After two days, I received another email telling me that the buyer had disputed the transaction. They placed the funds on temporary hold again. I replied to the dispute. (4) After another week, I received a notification that the dispute had been settled and the funds released to my account. (5) After five days, I received another notification that I may have received unauthorized funds. They've put the funds on hold again. I transferred the domain names because only because they said they had completed the investigation. Does anybody know if this even legal?
OMG.How much? It's very hard to get the money from buyer..Whether or not he open a dispute again & again?
@esidyo: Thanks for sharing that info. Do you know if they have that "rule" stated anywhere? If you can provide a reference or link, I'll take that back to PP.
Grr, I had read it somewhere, also a person if fails to win the dispute he might start an unauthorized claim, that means he can chargeback 2 times, but in unauthorized claim just say that you never hacked his account, paypal will give your money back
It's still ongoing. The money has been held for a month already. I just wish there'd be a better alternative to Paypal. I heard that Amazon now has its payment processing service like Paypal. Maybe I'll check that out.
Sorry to hear your troubles. Like others have stated though I'm fairly sure Paypal has a one dispute per transaction rule. As for Amazon I don't think it's that kind of processor, it won't just be a money transfer service. I believe it's intended to be a gateway + processor for online businesses to use on their websites.
As businessmen, I reckon we should all just start accepting CC's. We all have business accounts and our banks make that easy for us. What's the hold-up?
paypal seems to be a pretty secure payment option for businesses but it does take a pretty long time to process especially if it is linked to your bank account.
NEVER SELL DOMAINS THROUGH PAYPAL always use MONEYBOOKERS.COM for these types of business.... paypal is not good for selling digital products...
