I need to clarify this. I don't submit the same article to the same directory more than once, but I do submit the same article to a multitude of article directories.

I have seen sites for the past one year ranking for several good keywords and if you just take a look at their back links they come from hundreds of directories.

Their owners have submitted the same article to hundreds of directories without changing a single word of the article. Long story short, that is just a myth you won't get penalized, the only thing that can happen is the articles not getting indexed in all places.

And of course hundreds of links from PR0 pages won't do wonders.

I don't recommend submitting the same article to multiple article directories. Don't always take the easy way, alsways submit unique content. It will pay off trust me.

Well its not question of easy or difficult
its time and money involved in then

Time to write 1000 different articles for 1000 directories
Amount involved in any case time is money

I normally submit it to 10-15 good article directories only.

According to me, you can submit your article to as many directories. But you will not gain much by doing so since whenever Google comes across a duplicate content, it deletes it since I suggest that, you write a single article but get it spinned and submit it to as many directories as you want.

By spinning your article you will get a little different content each time....thus Google will not count it as a duplicate content and you will be getting your one way backlinks.

A good idea is to rewrite and submit it to different article directories. rewrite it every time you submit.

However, I am in same situation. Would like to say only one thing if all search engines are too sensitive regarding duplicate content, it must be punishable.

By the way, I am posting same article in 20-30 directories. Anyone can suggest me more better ideas.?

When you say punishable, do you mean that directories are punishable or your article is punishable ? What is G's view ?

there's no incentive for any search engine to count the same thing twice.

Which is why submitting the same article to lots of different places is losing its effectiveness. Soon it won't help one bit and might even have a detrimental effect.

Those people saying 'but I submit identical articles and it never does me any harm' either are 'the lucky ones' (and there will always be 'lucky ones', just like every week there's a 'lottery winner'), or they don't really understand what they are doing, or they are trying to fool you in order to make their lives easier (persuade the competition to do something silly, let them waste time, let them get dumped on by google = easier for YOU to rise up the SERPS!).

There really isn't any debate about this anymore. Even *common sense* should help you understand this - ask yourself, *why would google show the exact same article more than once in its search results???*

*What would be the advantage to the search engine user???*

I mean to say "Such keywords with our related pages are punishable". If it is the same what others are suggesting, there may be a chance that we may get panic result for the hyperlinked keywords within the article body.

I think submit one article to 4-5 article directories is better. And make sure the directories are the dofollow ones!
