I like how they claim the phrase is a "bit" open to interpretation.

I'm curious to know how many terrorists have been convicted of terrorism in Islamic courts and sentenced to death?

In Islamic courts? Probably very few, if any.

Well, if "terrorism" is considered "mischief" then one would assume that Muslims would be all over convicting them for causing trouble. Nobody makes Islam look worse than the terrorists.

Well, except for Muslim leaders making excuses for terrorists and doing nothing about it. I'd certainly have a much higher opinion of Islam if terrorists were being sentenced to death in Islamic states under Islamic law.

there are many alquada and other terrorist in jail and killed in Saudi Arabia Egypt and other Arabic and southeast Asian countries even before sep 11. these groups are also against their governments and have commited terrorist operation there for years.
I don't think these people are representative of millions of Moslems through out the world but more like cults at best. People like Ben laden and the other leaders of these terrorist organization are using their religion as a shield to hide their real intensions from the weak minded in their society to get their support A quick look at their biography makes this very obvious that they are engineers and lawyers not religious leaders and it is not a good idea to elevate their statue from tugs to representative of millions of people.

I disagree, you do not blow yourself up becuase you're an engineer or a lawyer, 100% these people do it for thier god, untill the Muslim world accept that terrorists and extreemism are a product of thier society and do something about it, like the western world try to control the problems in thier society ( drugs, teen pregnancy, guns, etc ), nothing will be done about it. It's high time they took responsability for the wave of violence and fear they have brought upon the world instead of hiding behind racism and politics.

Obviously the government is going to kill those who try to attack the government. But that is not the question. I didn't ask how many people have been convicted of treason.

The question is, how many terrorists (such as those which have tried to blow up Jews) have been convicted of terrorism and sentenced to death under Islamic law in Islamic countries?

Attacking government is also considered terrorism. That is the reason that FBI classify so many domestic groups like anti-abortion Christians as terrorists. You asked a question, some one correctly answered but you don't like the answer because it proved you know nothing about the subject and your only motive for such threads is to spread hatred.

Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Jorda,... regularly execute people who are involved in terrorism but I am still waiting for your answer if you are for or against death penalty.

Are there any examples of a terrorist who failed to blow up Jews and was then sentenced to death in an Islamic court?

Since there are so many examples of attempted terrorist acts against Israel I'm sure there should be plenty of convictions in Islamic courts.

When Americans commit crimes over seas they're hauled back to the US and tried. Marines are convicted of murder at times for crimes they commit while on duty.

It depends where they are arrested, Egypt regularly executes members of Islamic groups that use bombs against western tourists or buildings. If the Islamic countries were not fighting against terrorism then why CIA exports prisoners to be tortured in those countries?

you are 100% correct that they must address this in their society and the average Moslem has not done enough to combat these terrorist but my point was more in the line of what is the best approach to this problem from western countries and non Moslems
if you want to discuss their responsibility I tend to agree with president bush on that, here is what I mean
majority of these countries are ruled by dictators and by nature they keep the people uneducated and do not permit any voice of decent and generally kill or imprison any political activists most do not even allow any large gathering of people
then there are people like ben laden and the Egyptian doctor and so on that are looking to replace them. they have decided that the best course of action for them is through religion they have taken off their coats and have put on a robe and pretend that they are religious leader to minimize the prosecution that they faced in the hand of their governments and maximize their mass appeal these people tend to be very militant but only represent a very small number of people, mainly in thousands
unfortunately the majority of people are intimidated by both since they are very dangerous and more powerful and rootless and they can not openly criticize them.
very close on how people in inner cities in us were acting when the crack dealers were all over the place very few people were testifying against them and reporting them to police now imagine if they had bombs and heavier weapons
that is why president bush wanted to remove sadam from power and that is why these groups are fighting so hard. they kill anyone that cooperates with us to keep that fear. that is also the reason for the surge.
my point was to make this clear that to say these people represent Moslems will only empowers them. they are terrorist that is all they are nothing more and they terrorize average Moslems a lot more than me and you can imagine
