I have a few different sites for the same product. Should I have several listings for each of my best keywords. In other words, should i take 5 of the 10 listings on the first page for certain keywords? Or Should i only have one result show up per keyword?

I think having multiple sites for the same product is a mistake. Why go through the effort to SEO several sites that are selling the same product?

If I were you I would focus on the best site you have out of them and just optimize it.

I did a PPC test with clicksor a few years ago and I decided to create 10 unique ads for the kws that were getting traffic. My traffic went through the roof, so it does pay to have multiple listings in the results. My question is more of an ethical dillema. Is it fair to create multiple listings in the organic search results?

yes, Marshal is right, you need to choose long tail keywords.

Which directly targets you business product and those are having very low competition and you can easily achieve it.

Thanks but I am already ranking well on the first page for several one word search terms. If I took all the listings on that first page of results, do you think that would be fair to other webmasters?

I don't think one word keywords will target your business.
You need to be specific for what your website is about.

I think what you're saying is that you're already ranking well and you're concerned if you should be ranking so well.

You should be happy that you're ranking well. Are your sites better than your competitors (probably yes) so why not. Do you think your competitors would do you the same favor? What are you going to do, hurt your sites because you want more competition? I think not - win when you can - they'd do it to you.

If you're cheating it's not ethical but if your sites truly offer the consumer more - you'd be unethical in giving them worse choices.

Its great for traffic if you can have multiple sites on front page for same searches. Well done. Only thing I would be careful of is it you are using the same techniques to get all sites on front page and the search engine (google) changes its algorithm you might loose all your positions overnight!

Other than that keep up the good work.

PS How are you doing it??????
