If you have a quality .info site you should be fine. This means trying to make the design nice and navigation easy. And not putting tons of Adsense ads everywhere. I used to go the route of building lots of small sites but found it took so much time and energy to get backlinks for each individual site that now I'm just throwing tons of articles (good content) on a couple fo big sites, not targeting any keywords, just creating general areas like "shopping" "electronics" "health" etc. These sites are performing much better for me. For the first three months of the sites I'll mostly post articles targeting longtail keywords with less competition. Then I gradually add articles targeting more competitive keyphrases. The pages that tend to perform best are ones where I'm reviewing one particular product or talking about news related to one product. Visitors to these pages are usually interested in buying that item, so they'll quickly scan my review then click out on one of the ads where they can go buy the actual product. I'm making more on these big sites than on all the little sites I was trying to create. So you might want to consider building just one or two larger content sites and over time they might perform well for you. On the two large sites I'm building which are about six months old now I average about $100 to $130 per day per site vs. something like $1 every other day on my smaller sites. So I've pretty much dropped promoting the smaller sites and just get backlinks to my big sites now. I also do affiliate marketing with some nice conduit method sites and they're easy to set up - they're small sites with product oriented pages that convert nicely. Dan
Thanks for your replies ...it seems that I have to concentrate on particular niche and providing good content.
I think 3-5 sites sounds reasonable to maintain. I want to make revenue from my blog, but I don't want to take up a huge investment of my time (more than 40hr FT job).
Good post by Dangregory. A handful of sites keeps things interesting and acts as a buffer with things like seasonal variation and SERP changes etc. Dean
one site with good traffic and content..but also you can earn much more with many sites..its like building an empire..and it depends on how you SEO your websites and promote them..
