How many sites linking in is a good amount?

Hello all,

I've been marketing my site for a month now. I looked my site up on alexa and one of the stats is "Sites linking in" and I see the number but have no idea if it's good or bad. Basically what i'm asking is, what should this number be to be considered a good amount vs a bad amount. I'm still learning the ways of internet marketing so please forgive my n00bish. Thanks for the help

 

I'm interested to hear some answers but I don't believe there will be an exact answer to this question. 1 million backlinks would be considered awesome if you had them. Whether or not you have enough backlinks will be represented by your PR and how well you rank for each of your keywords and such. If you PR is 10 and your keywords are all 1st when searched then you have enough backlinks haha for now at least

Essentially there will be no answer because there are too many variables to consider so the only solution i suggest is to keep building backlinks till you are happy with traffic, PR and other indicators of a great website Good luck to you!

 

There is no good or bad amount. Just keep getting quality backlinks.

 

If google links to your site from their homepage, that ONE link can give you 'years' of income within weeks ;-)

Number of links don't count as much as 'who' links to you.

Alexa doesnt give you an accurate look at your backlinks anyway. Youd be better off looking at your google webmaster tools to find out how many links you have pointing to you. Thats not even all of them, just the ones Google has found.

The quality matters when it comes to links.

Definitely links from authority sites, high PR pages will help a lot. Don't forget to get links to your site's inner pages as well, not only to your homepage.

Links from similar sites and authority sites will help. Don't just backlink to the main page link about 50% to inner-pages and if you anchor text use variables in it.

 

Keep going with the backlinks and this number will increase. It's good for it to be higher

 

Creating backlinks is and always will be an on going battle because links can become old and broken. Just keep up with what you are doing and always get as many links to your site as possible. Try not to build them up to fast because search engines like Google will penalize sites that have suspiciously fast link building. Gradually increase your links each week until you are getting the traffic you want and your PageRank is a high number.
