How many sites do you have Site Targeting your site? Do you think this is a good thing?

Me, I've got two sites site targeting, one of which is using images. I find the images every so often on my pages gives a fresh look for my forum members. For myself owning a forum these are a god send as its by page views im making money on as well as click throughs. Thoughts?

Yeah, I also have a forum. But, I still make more money from clicks than site targeting. So I don't know what to think about the whole thing.

About 15% of my sites are targeted, but so far the revenue is extremely minimal from the targeted ads. I would much rather have contextual ads only.

most of them, i feel its a good think, advertisers know bout my site and they display more relevant adverts

and in my case they seem to pay better than contextual

I've got a few that seem to be paying right around the average of contextual, so I'm not complaining much at this point.

Sir Tom - don't forget that if site targetting doesn't work for your site you can always turn it off.

Site targeting for me shows zero impressions and (obviously) zero clicks. This is despite me targeting high traffic sites. I believe, since they are sites in my field, that they turn off the option so as not to let a competitor get a slice of their Adsense revenue. Just a theory.

I don't mean to seem stupid or steal this conversation - but what is "Site Targeting"?

Site targeting ads is CPM ads, so you won't get any paied form click

This is a stat which I have never bothered to check.

The eCPM of my site targeted ads is a small fraction of the eCPM of my contextual ads.

This is explained at Why the lower eCPM?, but it's still a wee bit spooky.

Site targeting is finding a website that you'd like to have your Adwords appear on, clicking the "advertise on this site" at the bottom of the Adsense ad and following the proforma instructions to put that site on the list of sites for one of your Adwords campaigns.

As AoaoSo says, you pay for CPM (clicks per thousand) so, no revenue is directly generated for you (in fact the site owner and Google make money), rather you are buying traffic.

In any case, your Adwords control panel shows how many impressions have been delivered for your ad. And of course, you get charged for the clicks delivered.

What I have found is those ads are not being put in a place on the chosen sites that delivers any impressions. Hence, I am not getting any impressions from the targeted sites, but neither am I paying anything for this part of my Adwords campaign.
