You know, i've noticed the same thing with my sites. I assumed that Adsense only allowed three placements for the ads, but I feel like i've seen people use more than three placements.

I've seen people running more than three adsense units before. Lifeplayer has stated perfectly the total number of adsense units your allowed to run on a particular page. Personally I'm happy with only running 3, to many adds may damage the user experience as well increase load time etc.

3 text/image ads per page, 2 or 3 search/links per page. Adsense is only set to generate 3 ads per request so if you had more the others would probably show up blank.

You are only allowed three ad code placements per page. So you can mix it up on different pages.

your site is simple and nice but your ads really stand out, not sure if that is a good or bad thing
you really want them to blend in so they don't stand out as ads because most people have ad blindness these days.

    good luck

Google adsense allow only three ads display on one page. so do not add more then three ads on same page. it will automatically get hidden and only three will be displays.
