I want to find some good keywords to market with. How many searches per month is enough and good? 1 million? 20,000? 1,000? Or is it not so simple? Thanks
keywords with very high searches, for example "make money online" can be extremly difficult to rank high for. You would be better going for keywords with less searches, between 300-700 a month. This may not seem high, but keywords with less searches mostly have less competition, therefore become much easier to rank high in the search engines. Once you get more experienced you can go for the higher searched keywords. Good luck
Thanks a ton, that makes a lot of sense. I'll do some keyword research. I need to find some good affiliate programs that match less competitive keywords. My next question is: how many different keywords in a particular niche are manageable/recommended for one person to perform SEO for?
what you need is a keyword tool software. Mass money makers has a good software for cheap for $47 and they usually sell for over $100 bucks. http://www.squidoo.com/making-money-on-line-easy-and-fast
Hi, Stellar1. If you are just starting out, maybe it is best that you focus first on at least 5-10 keywords. From these though, pick the main one that you will really focus most of your SEO efforts on. Based on our experience, at the start, we were working on different keywords all at once and did not get the results we wanted. When we focused on just several keywords, we got to the top rankings of the search results of search engines. But, whatever suits you really, Stellar1. There is no cut and dried system to SEO and using keywords. Just find out what works for you and go for it. Best of luck.
Thanks for the advice, melbournegraphicdesign and bby4hair, that's really helpful. I will start with 5-10 and get some experience under my belt then see what's best from there. appreciate it.
Depends on if you want to make money now or later. In my experience, when I target small search keywords first, I seem to get visitors more quickly then targeting huge search keywords.
From my experience, let me share it to you.. 1. If you are targeting specific product ( for example product in Target / Best Buy / Amazon , etc... ). It is better for you to choose a keyword with 300 - more than 1000 searches per months Why if you ask it? Let's do some calculation here, we just take a lowest number, 300... means that per day, there are 10 people who search that product in google using that keyword 2. Then what about the competition? You should go for some keywords with less than 250.000 competitor using quoted keywords. It will be good if you can found a keyword with less than 100.000 competitor, or even 10.000 competitor. It would be easier for you to be the top 10 in Google search engine. Good luck...
Thank you. How do I find out the number of competitors? Regular google search and see number of results?
thanks flexiblebullet; in the long run as a profitable and stable business, what do you prefer, a few popular search terms, or lots of small search terms?
Depends on niche or product you promote If the keyphrase has 2k/month and the product you sell get's you 50$ 2k search can get you easy 100 sales so it's very worth it ...
Hard to say unless we know what the click is for. Traffic for, a $50 sale is different then a 50 cent click. See what a 1st page ranking on Google is worth - scroll down to: Step 2: Typical Click Distribution Profile http://training.seobook.com/google-ranking-value And only a percentage of the clicks you do get will result in any sales or commissions. You often hear the number 2,000 mentioned, but that's probably the really low end.
I also hear the number 2000 mentioned a lot as an absolute minimum. Ok, so that is the "minimum" amount of monthly traffic. What about the maximum amount of competition? If I do a Google search for my keyword (in quotes), what is the maximum number of hits that I would want to see returned (since this shows my competition)? I've been told about 60,000. Does that sound reasonable?
It doesn't matter if it's a 100 or 10 million, you're only competing for the 1st page. The search count drops to 10% for the second page in the SERPs. If the competition on Google's 1st page is to tough then move on. Download TrafficTravis (free version) and it'll give you a good snapshot of what you're up against, backlinks, PR, domain age, in title, in URL, etc.
Use quote when you search in google, for example you can type "samsung ln32c350".. And google gives a result 1.130.000. So that is your exact competitor. Depends on what stage of keyword you are bidding, if you are bidding on buying stage keywords, i'm sure that you won't have so many traffic, but that little traffic is so worthed, even for this little traffic the conversion rate can be so good. Yes, i agree with you. 1000 is good, but 2000 will be great. If you are using a new version of Google Adwords Keywords Tools, the exact number Google gives to us will be different than their old version. The newest version gives a smaller result around 1/2 to 1/3. So please note it, if you found a keyword that been searching for 300 or 500 or 700 in a month using new GAKT, it is considerably as a "treasure" keywords.
