What are the total amount of search engines on the internet?

 

Google,yahoo,bing?

Does anyone know the average cost to put a search engine together?

It seems strange for there to be so many search engines when we already have the major 4 (Google, Yahoo, Bing and Ask).

Theres heaps out there, plus when you count the specialised ones the list is endless.

There are many search engines available on net. But there are search engine which are widely used.
here are: Google, Yahoo. Amazon, lycos, msn.. etc.

 

There are thousands of Search engine on the web and still increasing rapidly. But if you can perform well in google, yahoo and bing then no need to worry about others as they are not having much search share.

I think is not so important to know how many search engine out there. Because there are so many in the internet, both in english or foreign language. But the essential is you recognize the big 3: google, yahoo & bing.

 

Now that we know that there are thousand of search engines on the internet, since a lot of the replies on this thread have provided links on the lists of search engines that are available in the internet, what really matters is which of these search engine sites matter most in terms of page ranking and improving traffic on every site. I guess we will all agree that Google is the best search engine known in the internet. Correct me if im wrong

 

People barely care about Yahoo and Bing. Why does it matter how many there are total?

but, most populat of search engine are Google, Yahoo and Bing ...Many people used this as search engine ...
