I have begun my two linking with a few sites but am wondering will this affect my PR rating for my website. I will have a ton of one ways also form article submits etc. The part I'm wondering is will google frown on too many recip links on one page?
Reciprocal links work just like one-way links in most cases, unless of course if you are linking to any bad sites, then you get penalized. Therefore Reciprocal links do have an effect on Pagerank, as google says it: http://www.google.com/corporate/tech.html "PageRank interprets a link from Page A to Page B as a vote for Page B by Page A. PageRank then assesses a page's importance by the number of votes it receives. PageRank also considers the importance of each page that casts a vote, as votes from some pages are considered to have greater value, thus giving the linked page greater value. Important pages receive a higher PageRank and appear at the top of the search results. Google's technology uses the collective intelligence of the web to determine a page's importance." So it means that if your site gets linked from related websites and webpages, it will get a better Pagerank and a better listing in Search Engines. IT
Google penalizes websites that have more than 100 Outgoing links from a single page, although for safety purposes I'd recommend that you don't let the amount of external links from a single page go over 25. IT
What Im concerned about is Im am putting a backlink on my webpage to blog directories that I have submitted to. All the blogs I have submitted to have a pr4-6 ranking but want a link in return for their service. I have submitted my blog to nearly all of them which puts about 20 links back to the blogs. Will this affect the PR rating? I like blog directories because I know the reader has come to my themes section looking for information, which gives me a chance to have a return visitor if he likes my info.
Think of it as a percentage rather than an actual number. 50% reciprocals is too much IMO. 5% is fine.
I submit my articles to a ton of article dirs, etc which has provided my site some nice oneways back, so that should bring my overall % closer to 5-10. I guess I'm okay then. Thx for the info
No I don't think there is any limit to how many internal links you can put on one page. Or content sites would have died already. LOL But thats just what I think from my personal experience, feel free to tell me if I am wrong. IT
If you look at the Google Guidelines under Design and content, it says "Keep the links on a given page to a reasonable number (fewer than 100)." I'm not sure if they mean "internal link" or " external link"
That means its not good for a blog to have more than 100 external links linking to my main site. Example i have tatiana.com and tatiana.blogs.com. Is it harmful to put links on tatina.blogs.com pointing to tatiana.com?
Great feedback everyone and its really something to keep in mind. I guess I will always hit a max of 25 and always keep the best 25 incoming traffic.
Yeah its not good Tatiana. Try to keep 50 externals a page max. And btw, I believe every Digitalpoint forums page has more than 100 Internal links, so here is a big proof Google doesn't penalize for 100+ Internal links. Only for external. IT
You are right @Correctus. So how then could a blog help a site promote its products? I'm sorry if you think this is a stupid question Like for example, i want to create a blog to promote my products.
