How many Digital Point members run Amber Alerts on their websites. I run them on a few of my sites and feel good about doing so, but I wonder if the js is "hurting" my page's ability to rank better. Also, is there a way to render the code as an SSI and if so, can someone give an example? BTW - if you're interested, here's the code: <!-- Begin Code Amber Ticker code. --> <script language="JavaScript1.2" src="http://www.codeamber.org/js/codea.js" type="text/javascript"> </script> <!-- end of Code Amber Ticker code (c)Copyright codeamber.org 2002, 2003--> Code (markup):
Hey neat but why would the js hurt your ability to rank better? Then adsense would hurt your rankings too?
Not realy, google is the one who matters...Are they going to hurt you for running ads for themselves? Other engines maybe, but compared to others at this time I'd take #10 or above on google and nowhere to be found on others every time.
No, I've just noticed on some of my pages and sites, that js can be a stopper for some bots, but like hrblcantra points out, it's Google that really matters and they get around it find it seems.
Very cool Andrea. I don't watch it constantly obviously, but I seem to recall at least a half dozen Amber Alerts in Illinois this past year too - so every little bit helps - good for you!
I also get Amber alerts txt msg'd free on my cell phone from Cingular, anyone interested in getting them txt to you definently check it out
