I suppose I'm a semi-pro-blogger then. I make about 60% of my online income from blogs.

What kind of traffic do you get on ur blogs... I mean, the mix of visitors via blog rolls and via Search engines. Those via blog rolls are pathetic eh!!

most if not all my affiliate income comes from my blog.

i have 2 content sites internetmarketingcookbook.com and bizexcellerator.com but i dont think many sales come from there.

check out clickbank.com, the cookies persist for 2 months.

i've done a couple of sales for commission junction (cj.com) but somehow the cookies didnt register and i didnt get credit for the sale.

it was quite an upsetting experience.

ps: you can check for direct affiliate progs too.
    i like bluehost.com and anhosting.com.

    good payouts of $65-$85.

hostgator pays up to $105 or so. but their hosting isnt as blogging friendly in support cron jobs and some other stuff.

Hostgator is cheap but the features aren't so impressive. I am more a dream host fan.

I couldn't understand the connection between affiliates and cookies??

    ok this is the connection.

when you send your lead to the website through your affiliate link, a cookie is inserted into their browser with your affiliate code.

at checkout the order processing system will check for cookies and clock the affiliate commission to the person whose cookie is lodged in the person's browser.

if there's no cookie, you dont get the commission.

for clickbank, their cookies are quite robust, while for cj.com i didnt get my referral clocked. whether it's a cookie or some other problem i am not sure.

Thanks Andreww.. Thanks for the clarification.. Like I said I have never done affiliates.

using blog software as a content management software to build keyword sites or spam sites doesn't actually make one a blogger, though most bloggers also do some spamming :)

I get about 6-10K daily uniques, this breaks down from:
    • 65% Search Engines
    • 20% Other sites (blog rolls but more likely quoted posts)
    • 15% Direct (bookmarks, type ins etc)

When you get hits thru other blogs, do you track whether they come thru blog rolls or quoted posts?

No, I've got no way of knowing.

    I do expect the quoted posts are the majority though, as I see referrals increase when ever a post is quoted. Also with some of my top referrers I'm not on (or they may not have) a blogroll;

Yeah that's on my gadget blog, the traffic on my other blogs is substantially lower at the moment. The cpm is ok (double figures) but a lot lower than some of my more specialist sites :)

mostly the referring page is a post when it is a quote and root if it is a blogroll.

By the way your blog is awesome.. Do share some tips on how you managed to get so many blogs linked to you.. Was it all natural?
