Neat chart, but I don't think it is accurate.

    Stop obsessing over Pagerank.

Focus that energy and time on traffic and conversions.

    That is all.

There is no way at all to know how many links it needs. No one knows other than the robots that code the algorithm.

whisperdale.net did not create that table. They basically watermarked it, hoping it would bring them traffic. Here is the original table (which I find to be pretty accurate for the most part):

I'm pretty sure you would need a little bit more than backlinks alone to get the higher PageRanks, but it seems to be pretty accurate (I've only tested it out for PageRank 3 so far).

The number is completely relative because as the size of the indexed internet grows, so each sites' link totals diminish relative to the whole. What it took to be a PR 6 a couple years back now only makes you a PR 4 or whatever. Also, it seems that PR is somewhat relative to your industry. Google tends to hand edit industries that are vocal about online marketing for example. Also, highly competitive industries get more hand edits.

    The toolbar is a lie.

Someone should be able to reverse engineer these numbers for a good estimate , the table (given) may be reasonable , for instance - a page has 10 links to it, the PR of each of those links is known , it points to one page only ( one link only on that page going to an internal page ) the internal page registers PR 5 . Why can't the maths be done , surely someone has already done this -- there is a dampening factor in there to , something like .75 You only need a good estimate thats enough for SEO in most cases

The conventional wisdom is that the PR scale is similar in principle to the Richter scale for earthquakes. As I recall, a 5.0 earthquake on the Richter scale is ten times as powerful as a 4.0 earthquake. And a 6.0 quake is ten times as strong as a 5.0 quake.

Unlike the Richter scale, what we don't know about Google's PR is the multiplier as you go up (or down) one number. For the Richter it is ten (that is, ten times), for Google PR — ???

BTW, my wife was living in Anchorage, Alaska, during the famous 9.2 earthquake in 1964. She said that the ground rolled like waves of the ocean, and the earthquake lasted what seemed like a near eternity (about four minutes).

Wow, I wish I had a friendly with a PR 9 or 10 backlink. They can just stick me at the bottom of their home page and boom! PR7 lol.

If that chart was accurate, then my PR0 site would be a PR4. I have over 82,000 backlinks and still a PR0. That scale is a hoax-

Also depends on the quality of the linking sites and their IP... if it is all on the same IP your own sites than you would think to interlink all sites and get higher PR but it doesnt work. I had few PR5 sites and they are dropping since last year and I am also increasing links from outsite... since thee are also dropping I got no increase for a long time.

Internal pages count in the pr equation too I have a number of blogs with no permanent backlinks that are pr3 purely just from the internal links
