how many PR 7 and pr 8 needed for achive pr 7

i got some Pr 8 and PR7 linking to me..i got Pr 6 this update

 

I think that three pr7 links are enough to get you to PR6.

 

I've had a similar experience only with a PR5. Got one link from a blog to a PR0 page, next update it went up to PR5 the following update it dropped back down to a two. I just considered it a fluke

 

depends on amount of other links on the page linking to u, and how many other links going out from your page. generally, get 100 pr8 links and you'll probably have pr8 yourself, and the gift of god

 

Really, "one pr8 is equal to thousands of 5 and 6". But I think it's very tough to get one pr 8 link.

 

I am no PR expert, but I don't believe that at all.

 

BUT....

You do NOT need links of higher PR to get higher PR.

That's a FACT.

 

if you want to be sure that you will get a pr7 by the next update this is what you need:

- 3 Pr8 Links
- 18 Pr7 Links
- 100's of pr6,5,4,3,2,1,0 links

Follow this sheme, Get those links and u will have your pr7

 

what would you say it takes to get a PR6? (and let's assume you cannot get any backlinks higher than a PR6)

 

I don'T think it is a numbers game anymore... if you get 10 pr7 highly irrelevant, blacklisted "footer links" you still wont get higher than a PR3

 

that is not true , with only 1 Pr7 link and even irrevelant content you will get a pr4 in the worst cases.

 

but my site had high quality backlinks with pr7 & pr8 ( and many backlinks with pr1 & pr2 ) but google got pr1 to my site, i dont know why

That would be interesting to look at, Possibly you got the links after the link update but before the PR update. Perhaps the links are completely unrelated? (not sure if this would do it, at one time they would count, now???)

 

IMO - the last PR update on 27th April has shown that G has changed its PR Algo.

One of my site got PR6 with 2 PR7, 3 PR6 and 5 PR5.

My another site got PR4 with 2 PR8, 2 PR7 14 PR6 and 27 PR5 links. Not only that --those high PR sites linking to me also lost PR1 each

So its always difficult to calculate PR like that.

I also know a site that has one PR9, 7/8 PR8 -34 PR6, 91 PR5. That site lost 1PR. From PR7 its now PR6.

So backlinks alone is not enough --infact too many backlinks in a short time may harm. The policy I reckon is --G still gives good value to any link --but it is encouraging webmasters to go slow --take time.

 

Yeah no. of links might matters in past but not now. I think google might change the algo to prevent people buying lost of backlinks. let wait till somebody figure it out. ^^

 

I do not see how this could ever be true, if it were it would be so easy to knock a competitor out of the rankings if you had the money to do it, and there are many businesses that have the money and would be willing to spend it on this.

Also, when American Idol starts a new season (just an example) how many links do you think they get within those couple of months from other sites, blogs, etc? I would guess tens of thousands, do they get penalized for this?

 

My views are all speculative -. But one thing is sure --Google's PR calculation algo has definitely changed from previous updates. Now as always --nobody knows the exact numbers.
The problem is --while previously we had a fair idea of how many links are required for PR of upto 6-- now we don't even know what will get us PR3

This calculation of links is of one of my site. It was PR2 before the update. Now it is PR3. While --all these links were enough to give me a PR5 --or atleast PR4 based on experiences with previous updates -- I got only PR3

To achieve PR7 you have to get minimum 1-PR8 and/or 3-PR7 and 6-PR6 quality link. Content and website relevency will perform a major role in it.

For example If you have a fashion apparel website you should get BackLinks from the same type of website rather than you link it to industrial machine website even it has PR9 but you won't achive your target.
