How many posts/day to make a successful blog?

I'm thinking about making my own personal blog. The problem is, it seems a bit time consuming and i've heard bloggers about making 10+ posts/day. Does anyone here know a suitable posts/day to making a successful blog?

It depends on the content. If it's good, then it all depends on you, and what keeps readers coming back. Have you tried looking at good blogs to get an idea or two? John Chow is a really good blogger.

If you are a really good writer, and make interesting blog posts, and you get readers that return to your web site, then I suppose one blog post would be enough.

On the other hand, I think at least two blog posts could be enough, depending on your writing skills of course, but try to make them very interesting, this way you're able to gain readers and have a successful blog.

To make a successful blog doesn't require you to make all the posts.

You just need current & consistently updating fresh content incorporate an RSS feed to help with the freshness, as well as adding to it yourself..

    Seo is good also.

Sometimes, i dont blog for 2 days, and my rss reader count still goes up because of people finding good content on my site from search engines.

Its only as time consuming as you are willing to make it.

Good and original content will drive people to your site. Quality > Quantity.

It's not about how many posts you make a day, it's about how many interesting posts you make a day. Blogs only get famous and get alot of traffic if they have daily updates of something interesting. Think of it of a news channel, but of course much more fun.

Well, I think your post quality it's more important than your number of posts. See for example Smashing Magazine, they don't post everyday and I'd say is one of the best blogs about webdesign and development, altought there are lots of that kind of blogs that post daily that one is a lot better.

Honestly? If you post more than twice a day, then your posts become saturated. One quality post is good enough to tell you the truth.

If you have one incredible quality post a day, then your visitors will start to see your blog as a "treasure chest" of knowledge.

It's honestly all about driving consistent traffic to your blog, and getting subscribers. SeO

My blogs pretty successful and I only post everyother day but the gothamist posts like 8 times a day. It all depends on the range of topics you cover and how many you can repeatedly write without killing quality.

Would you guys recommend adding a second poster to your blog? And if so what level should they be on? Currently I do a one man job on my site but would like a partner to help out with posting content. I also use WordPress. So what level should this second poster be?

I dont want him to edit anything I do but I want him to be able to add new posts and edit his own.

    Thanks!

I think one interesting and unique post per day is enough. Too many per day might make viewers a little boring.

Whatever you do, make sure the writer has experience. Ask for writing samples and previous websites that he's blogged on. If you like his work, than hire him :)

Most of the biggest blogs on the net have a good team of writers so why not hire one (or more) writer(s) to help you out?

I've been thinking of adding a blog to my site as well. I've been delaying it because I've got other sites that I want to launch as well, but one post per day seems very doable. I think I'll get it going. Thanks :)
