I have a new blog that's about a month old that I use mostly to publish pictures and a little content (100-400 words per post). I publish between 3-6 pictures per post and keep 3 post on the home page. ECO TOUR BLOG <--that's the site (no ads or pop ups) Questions: 1. How many images can I get away with on a page before the load time scares people away? 2. Is the grand total of image sizes more of a load factor than the individual sizes? 3. Would you opt for more smaller pictures or fewer better resolution larger pictures? 4. How many Pictures do you have per page on your blog and how do you decide? 5. If you have a large amount of photos on your site do you ever have sever issues with digg or stumble upon traffic?
All i can say is its depends on Image size and Image resolution. Better to keep one image per post/page with medium image size for quick load time. I have few blogs for theme health, travel,Technolgy where i try to add one image/post and with medium image size. Loading time also important there. DON.
i use the thumbnail to full image link thing for large images, i have adjusted the thumbnail size and i use upto 10 pics per page, and size of each pic is around 30-50kb
I would suggest not to embed full size pictures on home page. It will increase the load time. The best strategy is to show at least 5 to 10 post excerpts on your home page.
