I think you will struggle to find anyone that prefers it to cPanel, I prefer Lxadmin over something like Plesk, but not over cPanel. Lxadmin is a good choice of your on a shoestring budget with a vps or dedicated server, especially with the LxAdmin Host in a Box VPS.

Lx with Apache might be fine for inexpensive hosting. It is fairly easy to learn.

LX without Apache isn't going to fly as the rewrite functions are much to complicated (unless they have greatly improved them).

Maybe I had a bad host but I gave up on the entire thing because the dns always failed to work after a few hours and the site was down.

    Good luck.

Yes i would use any kind of control panel provided that the hosting cost is low and the service is good.
Coz control panel mean nothing for its just a place for me to check the bandwidth usage.

I agree with Mentos; you config your site one time and that's it. Who cares what 'panel' is used for that. People who care about that are not very knowledgeable imho. Actually; I am admin for many, many servers and sites and I have a lot of clients who use an open source panel, layeredpanel or lxadmin and put on their homepage ; 'Free c-panel'! Which ofcourse stands for controlpanel. But 99.999999% of their clients cannot tell the difference between panels, so they think and say they have cpanel and never know they don't. And don't care either; I have one hosting company as client with more than 1 million accounts and guess how many of those 1 million login to their panel every day? 5000 and that's including the 3000 new clients he gets per day. 5000 per over 1 million, that's 0.5%. You calculate how many users actually use their panel after the first daywhen they installed their site. So put lxadmin, call it c-panel and only stupid nitpickers will notice; you don't want them as client anyway because they call support far too often to whine.

People want Cpanel because they heard is good, don't know to use or don't want to use/try something else. Anyway not using Cpanel probably means loss in sales. If 95 % want Cpanel then only 5% of the market will be shared between the others.

i agree.. even wen i was looking out for hosting. i was looking for cpanel. the simple reason is. more user friendly and wider spread. so. i better spend some $$ on my vps and VDS for cpanel. for earning customers.. is there any were were i could get a cheaper cpanel licence?

I don't just config my site. I don't use FTP to edit files, it takes too long and I like to see what I'm working with. So I use the File Managers built in. DirectAdmin has the easier File Manager, so I prefer that. cPanel is not bad, but their File Manager is a little 'too' advanced, it's annoying.

You do realize that the free LX has a 30 or 40 domain cap on it?

cpanel is not sootable for low end vps. It uses more Ram. I think LXadmin is only use 16MB ram.

one thing that makes cpanel better is their super-easy file manager.

cPanel is the best control panel for linux servers, though it is costly. I do not prefer LXadmin
